The foils are constructed from a special exotic grade of stainless steel which exhibits both high strength and high corrosion resistance. This helps to make the foils both extremely strong as well as corrosion resistant, thus seawater operation or beaching will not affect the foil system.
No foreign object/rope will get stuck around the foil due to the large shearing action created around the foils during normal operation
Foils are relatively complex to design and install on a vessel, with the special hybrid hull design of the foil-supported catamaran being developed and refined over a lifetime by academics with access to a university towing tank and wave tank for more than 30 years to perfect this unique hull form. Small errors in hull shape, foil design and placement rapidly make the vessel unusable, thus this technology is almost impossible to replicate without specialist knowledge.
